La Liga preview and odds: Celta de Vigo vs Real Sociedad
March 12, 2016 18:15pm - Estadio de Balaidos
La Liga
Celta de Vigo will be looking to bounce back from their 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Real Madrid, when they welcome a Real Sociedad side who have lost just one of their last seven La Liga games to Estadio de Balaidos.
Celta de Vigo still in hunt for Euro qualification
Since the winter break, early season pace-setters Celta de Vigo have slipped out of the top four and are now sat in seventh place in the Spanish first division table. The Galicians have won just three of their last 12 league matches, having lost seven and drawn the other two.
In their last game, Os Celticos were thrashed 7-1 away to Real Madrid. With just 10 games remaining, their target will be to claw their way back into the European qualification places.
La Real finding some form
Real Sociedad are currently sitting in the middle of the league table - nine points above the drop zone, and nine points below the first European qualification places. Their relative position of comfort has come as a result of their imporved performances under new boss Eusebio.
Progress has been slow and steady under the former Barca B man, but La Real have found some decent form over the last two months. Over the last 11 games, they have won five, drawn four and lost just two fixtures, with the 1-0 win away to Basque Country rivals Athletic Cub being the highlight.
They come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to bottom club Levante. Away from home, they have won two of their last three encounters, but were beaten 3-0 at Atletico Madrid on their last road trip.
Team news
Edurardo Berizzo will have to make do without Pablo Hernandez and Andreu Fontas.
Meanwhile, the visitors have a long list of injured players including Eneko Capilla, Agirretxe, David Zurutuza, Markel Bergara, Carlos Martinez, Sergio Canales and Raul Navas.
