Last year`s winner Altior is back to defend his crown as well as an unbeaten record in 12 races over fences. He has won all four of his races at Cheltenham and his impressive CV has already seen him ranked amongst the greatest two-mile chasers of all time.
With that in mind, there is little reason to look anywhere else for a winner in this race. Only a combination of the conditions and a massive underperformance can prevent him from prevailing again here, hence the short price of 4/9.
Ruby Walsh will do his best on Min, but it would take a ride of epic proportions to compensate for the gulf in class between the two horses. And at 4/1 there is little value in backing him for a place.
Those looking for an each-way option could do worse than consider Politologue. He is progessing well and was a contender in this race 12-months ago, eventually coming home a distant fourth to Altior. The ground should suit him better than some of the others and with prices of 25/1 or higher available, he looks great value to finish in the top three along with Altior and Min.
Here`s a quick look at the past winners, the latest odds and our top tip for the race.
