Monalee caught the eye with spritely performance at the Flogas Chase at Leopardstown in February. That run helped to erase the memory of his fall at the seam track in December. Coming in behind him that day was Al Boum Photo and both of those should be in contention here. Of those two, Monalee will start at a shorter price but the going might go against him here. With that in mind, Al Boum Photo looks well priced at 7/1.
However, he will have to overcome the versatile Presenting Percy who has competed across multiple disciplines and distances on his way to this Cheltenham challenge. He was just a length behind Irish National winner Our Duke in the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park and it was that performance, along last years win the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, which has confirmed the seven-year-olds status as favourite for this one.
With Grade 1 winner Black Corton also lining up, this looks set to be a cracking second race of the day. But who will prevail?
