Premier League
Top-of-the-table Manchester City will welcome the minnows of AFC Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as normal service is resumed in the Barclays Premier League following the international break.
City suffer Aguero blow
After suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City got back to winning ways in the last game week with an emphatic 6-1 trouncing of bottom club Newcastle United.
That match was notable for an incredible five-goal haul in just 21 minutes from Argentine striker Sergio Aguero. Unfortunately for City, their 27-year-old hitman will now be out for several weeks after pulling a hamstring while away on international duty.
Manuel Pellegrini will have to look elsewhere for goals when his team takes on one of the leagues newcomers this weekend.
Bournemouth keeping head above water
Despite winning last season`s Football League Championship race, Bournemouth were many peoples favourites for relegation at the start of the season. And while they may not have performed quite as well as the other newly-promoted teams, they have kept themselves clear of the drop zone with nearly a quarter of the season gone.
In their most recent game, Eddie Howes men played out a 1-1 draw against one of last seasons Championship opponents, Watford, at the Vitality Stadium.
Team news
The big team news is undoubtedly the loss of Aguero for City. The striker joins Aleksander Kolarov, David Silva, Fabian Delph and Gael Clichy on the sidelines for the Manchester team. On a more positive note, Yaya Toure and Sami Nasri could both be available for Saturday`s clash.
For the visitors, Harry Arter remains a doubt while the long-term sick list remains unchanged with Callum Wilson, Tommy Elphick, Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings all missing indefinitely.
