Premier League preview and odds: West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City
December 14, 2016 20:00pm - The Hawthorns
Premier League
West Bromwich Albion will be looking for a third-straight home win when they welcome 18th-ranked Swansea City to the Hawthorns on Wednesday night. The visitors themselves will be hoping to record back-to-back wins for the first time this term.
Baggies keen to maintain top 10 status
After several years of mid-table stagnation, West Bromwich Albion fans could be forgiven for craving something more. While European qualification might be out of the question, the Baggies are still well placed to challenge for a top six finish. A run of five games featuring three wins, a draw and a defeat has left them in tenth place in the table just four points behind sixth-ranked Manchester United.
In their last game, Tony Pulis` men were narrowly beaten 1-0 by league leaders Chelsea but on home soil, they are looking for their third-straight win after putting Burnley (4-0) and Watford (3-1) to the sword.
Meanwhile, opponents Swansea City finally have something to cheer about after picking up seven points from their last four games. The Swans also showed great character to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur with a 3-1 win over relegation rivals Sunderland last weekend. As a result, they have hauled themselves up to 18th place in the table, just a point adrift of the safety zone.
Away from home, the Welsh side are winless in six, having lost five and drawn the other one. Their only triumph on the road came on the opening day of the season at Burnley.
Key stats
- Swansea have earned just one point from their last six away games.
- West Brom have the seventh-best defensive record in the league.
Team news
The home side will be without the suspended Craig Dawson, while Boaz Myhill is still recovering from a knock and is expected to miss out.
Meanwhile, Swansea duo Federico Fernandez and Sung-Yueng Ki are both out with broken toes.

Betting odds and tips
Both sides have found some form in recent weeks but Swansea have only bagged a single point on the road since August.
Four of West Brom`s last five home games have produced four goals or more and for that reason, the Over 2.5 Goals bet looks good value at 43/40.
