Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase Preview
March 16, 2016 14:10pm - Cheltenham
Cheltenham Festival
All eyes will be on Un De Sceaux in this year`s Champion Chase. The clear favourite will attract plenty of betting activity but there are still a few question marks surrounding the eight-year-old`s temperament. On his day, he has the speed and the jumping ability to prevail but he is also prone to the odd mistake and much may depend on how Ruby Walsh guides his mount.
If he has an off day, then 2014 winner Sire De Grugy could be ready to pounce after showing a return to form over the last 12 months. He rode in five lengths behind the favourite at Ascot back in January and was also beaten (albeit narrowly) by 2013 champ Sprinter Sacre who will also line up in this race.
Sprinter Sacre pulled up when defending his crown in this event last year but has found some form again in recent trips.
Last year`s winner Dodging Bullets completes the line-up of former champions who will competing in this event. However, he did not convince on his one and only outing since his triumphant appearance last year.
