Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase Preview - Cheltenham Festival

March 15, 2016 15:30pm - Cheltenham

Cheltenham Festival

Distance: 1m 7f 199y

Grade: 1

Runners: 10

Winner: £208,300

Going: Good to Soft

There will be few tipsters suggesting any horse other than Douvan for the win in this race. The magnificent son of Walk In The Park has already achieved legendary status and will be seeking his 15th-straight win on Wednesday.

He has impressed over hurdles and fences with wins in the 2015 Supreme Novices` Hurdle and the 2016 Arkle Challenge Trophy. His last three races have all been won with ease an he is head and shoulders above the other entries in this field.

With that in mind, punters will be looking to see who can finish best of the rest in this race.

The Colin Tizzard-trained Fox Norton is certainly one contender. His chasing form has improved steadily and has won on his last three visits to this course. After starting the season well, he was slightly under par when finishing second at Newbury but that was his first outing in three months and he should be better prepared for this one.

Garde La Victoire is another decent chaser who has bounced back from a couple of falls early last year. He now looks to be jumping better and caught the eye with a win at Sandown last time out. With a price of 33/1 available, he is certainly worth an each-way bet. Alternatively, he can be backed at 9/1 in the W/O Douvan market.

Betting odds and tips

With Douvan likely to win, we are looking for the best of the rest or a long shot each-way bet and there are two main standout contenders in Fox Norton and Garde La Victoire.

You can back Fox Norton to win W/O Douvam at 2/1 and Garde La Victoire each-way at 33/1 with Bet365.
