Stayers Hurdle Preview Preview - Cheltenham Festival
March 15, 2018 15:30pm - Cheltenham
Cheltenham Festival
Distance: 2m 7f 213y
Grade: 1
Runners: 13
Winner: £192,707.00
Going: Heavy (soft in places)
In the day`s big race, solid stayer Sam Spinner is the horse to beat. The Jedd O`Keeffe-trained horse will not be fazed by the conditions and it will be up to the rest to pull something out of the bag to beat him here. If there is rain on the day, this horse and jockey Joe Colliver will lap it up so take that into consideration.
Supasundae has won at the festival before and Jessica Harrington will once again be trusting Robbie Power to bring him home at the front. Having won the Coral Cup in 2017 and then beaten Faugheen in the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown last month, he should have no problem returning to the three miles distance.
Willie Mullins will be attempting to emulate the success of last year, when Nichols Canyon landed this prize, by running four entries. Bacardys, Penhill, Augusta Kate and Let`s Dance could all come into contention but there are doubts as to whether they will be able to stay the distance in the same manner as the favourite.
