Europa League preview and odds: Midtjylland vs Manchester United
February 18, 2016 19:00pm - Arena Herning
Europa League - Round of 32, First leg
Manchester United will want to avoid becoming the second English team to be eliminated from Europe at the hands of Midtjylland when the two teams battle it over two legs in the Europa League Round of 32.
Midtjylland out to cause upset
Midtjylland have already sent one English side packing in this competition, overcoming Southampton at the play-off stage, and will now begin their quest to claim a second Premier League scalp on Thursday.
The Danish side scraped through the group stage of the competition with just two wins in six matches. In fact, they did not win any of their last four games and conceded nine goals over two legs against Napoli. However, a draw against Club Brugge on the final Match Day was enough to see them through with a total of seven points.
United with eye on Euro glory
With a top four finish in the Premier League looking increasingly unlikely, Manchester United may need to win the Europa League if they want to book a place in Europes elite competition next season.
The English club failed to make it out of the Champions League group stages after winning just two of their six games. However, they are now third favourites to win this competition and anything less than a semi-final place would be seen as a failure for boss Louis van Gaal.
United have never played Midtjylland but they do have a good record against Danish clubs, won four, drawn one and lost one of their six previous encounters.
Team news
The home side will be without the injured Johan Dahlin, while Petter Andersson is a doubt.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Marcus Rojo, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw.
