Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur - Champions League Quarter-final Preview and Odds
April 17, 2019 20:00pm - Etihad Stadium (Manchester)
Champions League: Quarter-final - Second Leg
Tottenham Hotspur defied many predictions to open an advantage in this all English tie. But with the margin of victory so slim, this quarter-final clash is far from over.
Mauricio Pochettino`s would have been relieved to have picked up a clean sheet to accompany their win in the first leg. They now enter the second leg knowing a goal would leave City needing to score at least three. That raises the prospect of a fascinating tie for fans of both sides and neutrals alike.
The Londoners have had a spring in their step since moving into their new stadium after a poor run of form had put their top four hopes in jeopardy. They have won all three games in the Tottenham Stadium without conceding a goal. Last time out, they put four past a hapless Huddersfield Town.
Meanwhile, Manchester City remain on course for a historic quadruple, although the margins are looking increasingly fine in the Premier League and in this competition. They cannot afford to drop any points in the league as Liverpool look forward to a much more comfortable run-in and they need to overturn a 1-0 deficit to progress on Wednesday.
The Sky Blues were beaten three times in row at home in the Champions League in 2018, the last defeat coming against Lyon in September. Since then, they have won three home games against Shakhtar Donetsk, Hoffenheim and Schalke, scoring 15 goals in the process.
These two sides will meet at the same stadium on Saturday as their respective Premier League quests resume. Both will be keen to lay down a marker here.

Betting odds and tips
This all-English Champions League quarter-final second leg has the potential to be a classic. With no away goal, City will look to strike early and overwhelm their opponents. While Spurs will look to strike on the counter-attack to make City`s job even harder.
Expect an early goal in this one in favour of the home side to give them the advantage at the break. They should also have enough to be winning after 90 minutes, the question is whether the scoreline will be enough to see them through. This could end 2-1 with Spurs progressing or 3-1 with City going through, and backing both scorelines might not be a bad strategy.
You can back City to win 3-1 at 10/1 and 2-1 at 8/1.
You can back Liverpool to win at 23/20.
