Manchester City vs West Bromwich Albion - Premier League preview and odds

May 16, 2017 20:00pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Manchester City will look to bolster their claim on a top four place when they welcome a West Bromwich Albion side who are winless in seven to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

City looking to preserve advantage over Arsenal

The race for Champions League qualification will continue on Tuesday as Manchester City aim to leapfrog Liverpool while maintaining their advantage over fifth-ranked Arsenal. To achieve this, the Citizens must overcame a side that they have defeated in each of their last 10 meetings.

A place in the top four is now the minimum requirement for City fans who expected so much more from Pep Guardiola`s first season in charge. The pre-season title favourites have failed to bag any silverware and now face a summer of rebuilding under the Spaniard`s guidance. As a result, a few players might be making their last ever home appearances as City players in this game. Meanwhile, opponents West Bromwich Albion will arrive in Manchester having not won a game since March.

The Baggies raced to the 40-point mark this term but since then have picked up just five point from a possible 30, the kind of form that would have them relegated over the course of the season.

Incredibly, Tony Pulis` men currently sit in eight place but they are just five above 16th-ranked Watford, such is the congestion in the belly of the table.

Betting odds and tips

City have lost just one game at home all season and that is unlikely to change on Tuesday night. West Brom failed to score in six of their last seven matches, drawing two and losing five. As a result, the home win to nil looks like the best option here.
