La Liga preview and odds: Villarreal vs. Celta de Vigo
October 18, 2015 12:00pm - El Madrigal
La Liga
Villarreal will be attempting to retain their place at the top of the table when they welcome unbeaten Celta de Vigo to El Madrigal for a La Liga clash on Sunday lunchtime.
Villarreal still in pole position despite defeat
Villarreal hung on to top spot last week despite losing for the first time this season away to Levante. The defeat against the strugglers from Valencia came on the back of five straight wins which included a victory against 2014 champions Atletico Madrid.
Fortunately for El Submarino Amarillo, Rafa Benitez`s Real Madrid could only draw in the Madrid derby, while Barcelona and Celta also dropped points, leaving the the men in yellow in first place.
Celta proving hard to beat
Celta could have returned to the top of La Liga had they beaten Getafe at home in the last match but in the end they could only manage a goalless draw. That result maintained their undfeated status and left them in third place, level on points with heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Eduardo Berizzo`s team created plenty of opportunities against the team from Madrid but were unable to break down their solid defensive unit. In the end, the score line did not reflect the entertainment level of the game.
The Sky Blues have won two of their three away games this season with the other ending in a draw. They are also the joint-top scorers in the league with 15 goals and have only conceded three goals on their travels this season.
Team news
Villarreal will be without Sergio Asenjo who is injured and Jokic who is serving a ban, while Musacchio remains a doubt.
Celta could welcome back Captain Augusto Fernandez who has recovered from injury, while Fontas, Drazic and Ruben Blanco are all still missing.

Villarreal: LWWWW
Celta de Vigo: DDWWD
Betting odds and tips
The bookmakers have the home side as favourites and they can be backed at a best price of 11/10 with Sky Bet. However, this could be a tough clash against an attacking team that is proving very hard to beat. The draw looks like a much more sensible bet at 27/10 with Betvictor.
In the goalscorer market, look no further than Celta front man Nolito. The striker has bagged five goals already this season and can be backed at 27/11 to score anytime with Unibet.
