Premier League preview and odds: Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland
November 23, 2015 20:00pm - Selhurst Park
Premier League
Sunderland fans will have to make the long trip south to London on Monday night to watch their struggling side take on an inconsistent Crystal Palace team in the Barclays Premier League.
Palace with one win in last four at home
Crystal Palace have been perhaps the most incomprehensible team in the Premier League this season often following impressive wins with frustrating defeats but rarely drawing. Despite their erratic behaviour, they have managed to amass a total of 19 points and currently sit in eighth place in the table just two points outside of the first European qualification spot.
Alan Pardews men come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win away to Liverpool which was preceded by a 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United. They now host a Sunderland side that are 13 points below them in the league.
Sunderland desperate for points
Sunderland are four points short of the safety zone which may not sound like much however, Sam Allardyces team have only picked up six points all season and have lost three of their last four games. Since the former West Ham boss took over the reins at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland`s performances have barely improved, with their only points coming in controversial fashion in the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle.
The Black Cats have lost all but one of their away games in the Premier League. The sole exception being a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa - the only team below them in the league. They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat a home to Southampton - a score-line that ultimately flattered the hosts.
Team news
The home side will be without Dwight Gayle who is suffering from a hamstring problem, while Kwesi Appiah is still out with ligament damage. Marouane Chamakh is thought to be close to a return after ongoing hamstring issues have hampered his season.
Meanwhile, Sunderland could welcome back the duo of Lee Cattermole and Adam Matthews. Sam Allardyce has no fresh injury worries at this stage.

Betting odds and tips
This game does offer any standout betting opportunities however, the obvious bet of a home win available at a best price of 4/7 with PaddyPower.
Elsewhere, Sunderland have conceded at least two goals in five of their six away games this season and have failed to score in four of their last five road trips. As a result, you might want to back Palace to win with Under 2.5 goals at 11/4 with Boylesports. .
