Premier League preview and odds: Stoke City vs AFC Bournemouth
November 19, 2016 15:00pm - Bet365 Stadium
Premier League
Stoke City will look to extend their unbeaten run to seven games when they welcome mid-table neighbours AFC Bournemouth to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Season started late for Stoke City
After losing four and drawing one of their first five games, Stoke City were left stranded at the bottom of the Premier League table and looked like genuine candidates for relegation. Since then, the Potters have won three and drawn three of their next six to lift themselves three points clear of the drop zone.
Mark Hughes men have been the seventh best team in the league over the last eight games and have won their two games in a row on home soil. They come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw away to West Ham United.
Meanwhile, visitors AFC Bournemouth have failed to win any of their last three league matches and have lost their last two in a row. Their most recent defeat was a disappointing 1-2 home defeat to bottom-of-the-table Sunderland. Prior to that, they were beaten 2-0 on the road at Middlesbrough.
Away from home, the Cherries have yet to record a win this season and they have failed to score on three of their five road trips.
Team news
The home side could welcome back Glenn Whelan (hamstring) subject to a late fitness test. However, Glenn Johnson (thigh) and Geoff Cameron (knee) are both still doubtful. Definitely missing for the Potters will be Wilfred Bony (ankle), Jack Butland (ankle) and long-term absentee Stephen Ireland (leg).
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the injured duo of Brad Smith (foot) and Lewis Cook (ankle), while Callum Wilson and Andrew Surman could both return to the fold.
Recent form (League):
Stoke City: DWWWD
AFC Bournemouth: LLDWD
Betting odds and tips
Stoke City are undefeated in their last six and have scored in all of their last seven matches. However, they have conceded at least one goal in all but one of their home games.
Bournemouth have conceded in all five away games they have played this term but have failed to score in three of them.
You can back Stoke City to win at 13/10 with Bet365.
