Premier League preview and odds: Watford vs Leicester City

November 19, 2016 15:00pm - Vicarage Road

Premier League

Eighth-ranked Watford will look to maintain their position in the upper reaches of the Premier League when they take on reigning champions Leicester City at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

Watford keen to erase last result from memory

Watford have had two full weeks to stew on the 6-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Liverpool last time out. In reality, that score-line could have been much worse, and Walter Mazzarri will no doubt be keen for his team to put that experience behind them.

Next up for the Hornets is a clash on home soil against the current Premier League title holders. They come into this game unbeaten in three at home, having beaten Manchester United (3-1) and Hull City (1-0) either side of a 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth.

The Hertfordshire team have scored in all of their home matches this term and conceded in all but the last one (against Hull). Four of their five home games have produced over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors are struggling to live up to their title of reigning champions. Despite a good showing in the Champions League, Leicester City have struggled in the league, particularly away from home.

The Foxes have yet to record a win on the road and have drawn just once (against Tottenham Hotspur). They come into this game on the back of their first home defeat in over a year after falling 1-2 against West Bromwich Albion.

Claudio Ranieri`s men will still be targeting a top 10 finish this season and could enter that realm with a win this weekend. However, they will no doubt have one eye on Tuesday night Champions League clash with Brugges.

Team news

The home side will operate without the services of Christian Kabasele (knock), Isaac Success (hamstring), Kenedy (knee), Craig Cathcart (hernia) and Brice Dja Djedje, while Heurelio Gomes remains a slight doubt.

Meanwhile, the visitors will hand late fitness tests to Demarai Gray and Danny Drinkwater, while Kasper Schmeichel and Nampalys Mendy are both out.

Leicester City: LDWLD

Betting odds and tips

Watford have a 100% scoring record at home but have only managed to keep one clean sheet. Four of their last five home games and four of Leicester`s last five away games have all produced over 2.5 goals. With all things considered, that looks like the choice bet for this game.
