La Liga preview and odds: La Palmas vs Barcelona

February 20, 2016 15:00pm - Estadio Gran Canaria

La Liga

Barcelona extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 31 games with a win at Sporting Gijon in mid-week. Can they make it 32 when they make the trip south to the Canary Islands to face a Las Palmas side that has lost four of their last five games?

Poor away form hurting Las Palmas

Las Palmas have still not won a game away from home in La Liga this term - in fact, their winless streak on the road now stretches back to December 2001. The Amarillos have the home form of a mid-table side but their inability to win away from their island base could cost them come the end of the season.

Quique Setien`s men come into this tricky fixture on the back of two-straight 2-0 away defeats to Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla. On home soil, they have lost just once in their last five games, with that defeat coming against second-ranked Atletico Madrid.

Barca unbeaten in 31 games

Winning away from home is not a particular problem for Barcelona. The league leaders have lost just two of their last 21 away games in La Liga, with their last defeat coming at Sevilla back in October.

Last time out, Luis Enrique`s men secured a 3-1 victory away to Sporting Gijon - a result that moved them six points clear at the top of the league table. This will be the Blaugrana’s first visit to the Las Palmas since 2001 - on that occasion, they played out a goalless draw.

Team news

The home side will have to do without the suspended Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso after he picked up his 10th yellow card in the game against Sevilla. Other absentees include the injured group of Dani Castellano, Javi Castellano, David Simon, Angel Montoro and Vincente Gomez.

The visitors will be without Sergio Busquets, who is suspended for this game, while Rafinha is still out injured.

Betting odds and tips

There is not much betting value to be had in the win market for this game. Barcelona have not played at this stadium since 2001 but travelling to the Canary Island should not present a problem for the European Champions. For slightly better value, look at the Under/Over goals market.
