La Liga preview and odds: Espanyol vs Celta de Vigo
April 19, 2016 20:00pm - RCDE Stadium
La Liga
Espanyol will try to break a run of two straight defeats when they welcome a Celta de Vigo side who are unbeaten in five to the RCDE Stadium on Tuesday night.
Espanyol still not safe
With La Liga survival still not guaranteed, Espanyol could do with a win to ease their relegation fears. The club from Barcelona are winless in three and have slipped to 15th place in the table, just seven points above the drop zone. While relegation still looks unlikely, Coach Constantin Galca knows that they cannot take anything for granted over the next five games.
In their last match, they were beaten 2-1 away from home by struggling Levante, and prior to that, they fell 3-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. Both teams have scored at least one goal in each of their last six league games.
Celta defending Euro spot
Just like Espanyol, Celta de Vigo still have plenty left to play for as they try to secure European football for next season. The Galician side are currently sat in sixth place in the table on 53 points, seven points adrift of fourth-ranked Villarreal and just four ahead of seventh-ranked Sevilla.
Eduardo Berizzos men come into this game on the back of a five-game unbeaten run, having won three and drawn the other two. Last time out, they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Real Betis.
Team news
Arbilla is the only injury concern for the home side, while Hugo Mallo and Andreu Fontas could both miss out for the visitors.
