Malaga are aiming for a top eight finish, while Rayo Vallecano are looking to secure their place in La Liga for yet another season.
Malaga finishing strong
After a slow start to the season that saw them dwelling near the foot of the table, Malaga are looking finish on a high note by securing a top-half finish. The Andalucian club have lost just three of their last 13 outings, having won five and drawn the other five. As a result, they currently sit in eighth place in the table with a total of 41 points.
In their last match, they were beaten 1-0 at home by fifth-ranked Athletic Club. Four of their last five home matches have been low scoring affairs with a total of two goals or less.
Rayo on course for survival
Rayo Vallecano seem to have found some form at the right time and have built up a five-point cushion over the relegation zone with five games left to play.
The Madrid side have lost just three of their last 14 games, having won four and drawn the other seven. However, they have not won away from home since September. Remarkably, five of their last seven road trips have ended in 2-2 draws.
In their last match, they grabbed all three points with a 2-1 win over fourth-ranked Villarreal.
Team news
The home side will be without the injured duo of Juan Carlos and Carlos Kameni.
Meanwhile, Piti, Patrick Ebert, David Cobeno and Tono Rodriguez willall be missing for the visitors, while Jozabed and Razvan Rat are both doubtful.
