Arsenal vs Everton - Premier League preview and odds

May 21, 2017 15:00pm - Emirates Stadium

Premier League

Arsenal head into their final game of the season knowing that they must beat seventh-ranked Everton and hope that other results go their way to stand any chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Top four fate out of Gunners’ hands

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on the final day of the current Premier League campaign with their Champions League aspirations hanging in the balance. With destiny out of their hands, Arsene Wenger`s men can do little but win their own game and hope that either Liverpool or Manchester City drop points. However, the odds are against them continuing their 20-year qualification run.

The Arsenal boss has been feeling the pressure in recent weeks but his team has rallied and finished the season strongly with six wins from their last seven matches. However, it may be too little too late for the Londoners.

Meanwhile, opponents Everton have lucked their way to a Europa League place thanks to Arsenal and Chelsea’s upcoming FA Cup final appearance and Manchester United EFL Cup triumph. With all three of those side already qualified for Europe the final place goes to the seventh-placed Toffees.

With seventh place and a place in Europe already sealed, there is little left for the Merseyside team to play for. While for Arsenal, this remains a must-win game. As a result, it is hard to see the visitors upsetting the odds on Sunday. Plus, Ronald Koeman`s men have only recorded one away win in 2017 and have not won any of their last seven on the road.

Betting odds and tips

Arsenal have won their last four matches in a row and their last four on home soil. They have scored at least one goal in each of the last of their last 13 home matches and have not conceded in the last four.

Everton could be forgiven for having half a mind on their summer holidays and this could come into play on Sunday. As a result, a comfortable home win should be expected.
