La Liga preview and odds: Malaga vs Real Madrid
February 21, 2016 15:00pm - La Rosaleda
La Liga
Malaga will be looking for their first league win over Real Madrid in seven matches when the teams go head-to-head at La Rosaleda on Sunday.
Malaga pushing for top-half finish
Malaga had a woeful start to the season but since holding Real Madrid to a draw at the end of September, the Andalucians have won eight, drawn four and lost seven games. As a result, they have risen to 11th place in the league, nine points clear of the danger zone.
Javi Gracia`s men have lost just one of their last five at home, and that defeat came at the hands of league leaders Barcelona (1-2).
Los Boquerones come into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat away to fourth-ranked Villarreal. Prior to that, they cruised to a 3-0 win over Getafe at home.
Just one win in last four away games for Real
Real Madrid edged past lowly Granada last week to record their first away win in four matches. In total, Los Blancos have won just three of their last eight on the road. As a result, they are currently sitting in third place in the table, seven points adrift of the leaders.
Last time out, Zinedine Zidane`s team ran out 4-2 winners at home to Athletic Club. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in that game to take his season tally to 21 league goals.
Team news
Malaga will be without Juan Carlos, Christian Atsu and Gonzalo Castro.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the suspended duo of Lucas Vazquez and Raphael Varane, while Pepe and Gareth Bale are both injured.
