Real Sociedad could move back into the top half of the league table with a win over bottom club Getafe on Thursday night. Meanwhile, a win for the visitors, could haul them off the bottom of the table and out of the drop zone.
Eighth place a realistic target for La Real
Real Sociedad are one of four teams currently sat on 41 points in La Liga. With five games left to play and Sevilla eight points clear in seventh place, an eighth-place finish is the best that Eusebio`s men can realistically hope for.
The Basque Country side have lost just of their last 11 home games, having won six (including a 1-0 win over Barcelona) and drawn the other four. In their last league match, they were beaten 2-1 away to Basque Country rivals Eibar.
Getafe down but not out
Despite occupying last position in the league table, Getafe are just two points adrift of safety in La Liga. However, the team from Madrid are winless in their last 13 league games with 11 defeats and two draws to their name. Away from home, they have failed to score a single goal in their last six fixtures and have lost seven in a row.
In their most recent fixture, they were hammered 5-1 at home by third-ranked Real Madrid. Pablo Sarabia`s strike in that match was just the third goal that the team have managed to score in their last 12 games.
Team news The home side`s treatment room is getting crowded, with Raul Navas, Carlos Martinez, Oier, Eneko Capilla, Agirretxe and Sergio Canales all out of action with various ailments.
Meanwhile, the visitors have a more manageable situation with just Henok Goitom, Juan Cala and Emiliano Velazquez on the sidelines.
