French Open preview and odds: Alexander Zverev vs. Pierre-Hugues Herbert
May 23, 2016 TBC - Roland Garros
Men`s Tennis - French Open, first round
It will be a case of youth versus experience in this French Open first round match as 19-year-old German Alexander Zverev takes on 25-year-old Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Zverev another rising star
It has been a good 2016 for Alexander Zverev who started the year as World No. 83 and has now broken into the top 50 at just 19 years of age.
He began the year in the toughest possible way with a first round defeat to Andy Murray in the Australian Open but has gone from strength to strength ever since. Highlights have included wins over Marin Cilic, Gilles Simon and Grigor Dimitrov on the hard courts, with further triumphs over David Goffin and Gilles Simon on clay.
At the time of writing, Zverev was playing Joao Sousa in the semi-finals of the clay event in Nice.
Opponent Pierre-Hugues Herbert has been on the circuit for many years now but has only recently broken into the top 100. His form has been decent so far this year, but at the age of 25, he has yet to bag a top-20 scalp.
He made it to the third round of the Australian Open back in January where he was beaten in straight sets by Jo Wilfried Tsonga. Since then, he has won a challenger title in Bergamo and made it to the fourth round of high level events in Miami and Monte Carlo.
Betting predictions
Zverev already has six wins against top-20 opponents under his belt and has broken into the top 50 at just 19 years of age. Meanwhile, late-developer Herbert is currently playing his best tennis at the ripe old age of 25. This should be an entertaining match but the youngster should come out on top.
Back Alexander Zverev to win at 1/3 with Bet365.
