French Open preview and odds: Grigor Dimitrov vs. Viktor Troicki
May 23, 2016 TBC - Roland Garros
Mens Tennis - French Open, first round
Grigor Dimitrov will be trying to halt his slide down the ranking table when he takes on experienced Serbian Viktor Troicki in the first round of the French Open at Roland Garros next week.
Another interesting first round match-up
After breaking into the top 10 and peaking at No. 8 in the world two years ago, Grigor Dimitrov`s career has waned somewhat. A string of average performances has caused the Bulgarian to slip down the rankings table where he is currently ranked 36th in the world.
The 25-year-old made it to the final of the clay event in Istanbul (April) but then fell at the first hurdle in both Madrid, where he was beaten by Wild Card entry Pablo Carreno Busta and Rome, where he was dumped out by youngster Alexander Zverev.
Meanwhile, former World No. 12 Viktor Troicki has performed steadily throughout the last 12 months and maintained his position World`s top 25.
The 30-year-old will be bringing plenty of experience into this match - however, his record on clay is not great. In fact, eight of his nine singles finals were played on hard courts while the other was contested on grass.
Betting predictions
This is a tough one to call but Dimitrov just gets the nod thanks to his superior record on clay. The Bulgarian has contested two previous finals on clay, having won the Romanian Open in 2014 and finished runner-up in this year`s Istanbul Open.
Back Grigor Dimitrov to win at 4/9 with Bet365.
