French Open preview and odds: Julien Benneteau vs Lucas Pouille
May 22, 2016 TBC - Roland Garros
After missing most of 2015 through injury and dropping out of the top 500, veteran Julien Benneteau had to rely on a wild card invitation to make it to this yearÂ’s French Open.
The young gun versus the old guard
Benneteau`s opponent in the first round will be 22-year-old compatriot Lucas Pouille who comes into this event on the back a semi-final defeat to Andy Murray in the Rome Masters. The young Frenchman has continued his steady rise up the ATP rankings and is now positioned at No. 31 in the world.
Benneteau has made slow progress in his recovery from injury and is unlikely to make much of an impact in this tournament. With Pouille in such good form, the veteran will surely be heading home after the first round.
Betting predictions
At 34 years of age, the road to recovery is a slow and arduous one. Julien Benneteau will do well to take a set off the young hot shot.
Back Lucas Pouille to win in straight sets at evens with Bet365.
