Marsha looks set to break a 10 year dominance by male horses by becoming the first filly to win the King`s Stand Stakes since Miss Andretti back in 2007. This solid performer rounded off a successful season with a win at the Prix De l`Abbaye back in October, where she saw off many of the contenders for this renewal. She beat off competition from Washington DC on her return at Newmarket and comes into this as the form horse in a decent field.
Lady Aurelia won on this course last year but he may find the pace a little quick here as the ground continues to firm creating the conditions for a high-tempo race. As a result, the price of 4/1 looks a little short. Temple Stakes` winner Priceless can be expected to progress well and could be in the running here. Once again, the ground should suit and the stall position could also hand some advantage. The stable won this event last years with the same trainer and jockey combination guiding Profitable home.
Betting odds and tips
Lady Aurelia and Priceless both look good for a place but it is hard to imagine anyone getting the better of Marsha in this race. And at a price of 7/2, there is some value to be hand in backing the filly to get the job done.
You can back Marsha to win at a best price of 7/2, while Priceless is available at a whopping 16/1 with Bet365.
