After winning the Greenham at Newbury, Barney Roy followed that up with an impressive if tactically flawed effort in the 2,000 Guineas coming in behind Churchill. On what should be a more suitable track, he can be expected to go well here and could get the better of his rival this time out.
Churchill has proved to a reliable mount having already bagged four Group 1 wins. He has previous form against his closest challengers here and will once again be the one to beat. He should head off as favourite with early prices of 5/2 currently available.
Thunder Snow was just two-lengths back when fourth to Churchill in the Dewhurst at Newmarket. Next came a Group 1 win at Saint-Cloud in October before he was defeated by Churchill once again in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. A price of 16/1 could tempt some in the each-way market.
Aside from those three, there is no horse that really catches the eye although Lancaster Bomber has been thoroughly tested at a high level and could compete for a place.
Betting odds and tips
This should be a straight race between Churchill and Barney Roy with the latter just getting the nod. A price of 5/2 may not offer much to get excited about so those looking for a big-priced contender may want to place a small each-way stake on Thunder Snow at 16/1.
You can back Barney Roy to win at a best price of 5/2, while Thunder Snow is available at a tempting 16/1 with Bet365.
