West Ham United vs Brighton and Hove Albion - Premier League Preview and Odds

October 20, 2017 20:00pm - London Stadium

Premier League

Two sides who are neck and neck in the Premier League table will clash on Friday night as 15th-ranked West Ham United take on 14th-ranked Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Stadium.

After a poor start, the Hammers have recovered somewhat having lost just one of their last five Premier League matches - a narrow 2-3 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite their improvement, they are still just two points and two places clear of the drop zone and will be keen to get a third home win of the season under their belt on Friday night.

Salven Bilic`s men finally seem to be settling into their new home and have already beaten Huddersfield Town and Swansea City at their Stratford base this season. A win for either side could lift them in to the top 10 - on a temporary basis at least. The Irons will have to make do without the injured Andy Carroll, while Javier Hernandez, James Collins and Diafra Sakho are all doubtful.

Brighton and Hove Albion last won an away match in the top flight way back in 1983. They have lost three and drawn one on the road this term, scoring just a single goal in the process. Fortunately, they have done well enough at home to keep themselves out of the bottom three with eight games gone.

Boss Chris Hughton has plenty of experience at this level and will be hoping for a repeat of the performance at Watford where they picked up their one and only away point this term. However, Tomer Hemed will be missing through suspension, so their goal scoring threat will once again be limited.

Betting odds and tips

Brighton are finding goals hard to come by, especially on the road, so West Ham should have the upper hand here. The Hammers have netted five times in the three home games they have played this season and have a decent record at home to teams in the bottom half of the table. As a result, they look good value for the win to nil.
