Premier League
Back-to-back defeats have left Norwich just two points clear of the drop zone as they head into this Premier League clash against a Liverpool side that cannot break the shackles of mid-table mediocracy.
Norwich looking over their shoulders
Alex Neil`s side have done just enough to keep their heads above the relegation tide this season, but there is still a long way to go. After securing consecutive wins against Aston Villa and Southampton, the Canaries have now lost two on the spin and are sliding back towards the danger zone. With Swansea and Newcastle both winning last time out, the Norfolk-based club are once again looking over their shoulders.
Defeat to Liverpool this weekend could see them drop into the bottom-three depending on how other results pan out.
Reds banking on cup success
Liverpool are not having a great time in the league but they are still in three cup competitions, and have two Champions League qualification avenues open, via a fourth-place finish or by going all the way in the Europa League.
Jurgen Klopp`s team has been plagued by injuries all season but some of those issues now seem to be abating with several key players either back in the squad or close to returning.
In their last league match, the Reds dominated against Manchester United but were toothless in attack. Their failure to capitalise was punished by a Wayne Rooney goal that once gain came from a failure to deal with a set piece. However, they did bounce back in mid-week, as a youthful Liverpool side finally brushed off the challenge of League Two minnows Exeter in the FA Cup.
Team news
Norwich will have a full strength squad to choose from for this game.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are still without Martyn Skrtel, Philippe Coutinho, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge - however, Dejan Lovren and Jon Flanagan are both available after recovering from their respective ailments.
