Hull City vs Watford - Premier League preview and odds
April 22, 2017 15:00pm - KCOM Stadium
Premier League
Relegation-threatened Hull City will look to keep their heads above water when they host top 10 contenders Watford at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The visitors themselves are still in the hunt for an eighth-place finish.
Home form key for Tigers
Following back-to-back away defeats, Hull City will be glad to be back on home soil where they have won five of their last six matches and are unbeaten in seven.
The Tigers are just two points above the drop zone with five games left to play and will be counting on their strong home form to see them across the line in the race for survival. Both teams have scored in six of their last seven home matches and five of those matches produced more than 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, 10th-ranked Watford come into this game having won three of their last four matches but much like Hull, they have performed much better on home soil. The Hornets have lost their last three matches on the road without scoring a goal. Their only win in their last 11 away matches came at Arsenal back in January.
Team news
David Meyler (knee ligament injury), Ryan Mason (fractured skull), Will Keane (knee), Greg Luer (cartilage), Brian Lenihan (knee) and Moses Odubajo (MPFL) will all miss out for the home side, while Omar Elabdellaoui has a back problem and remains a doubt..
Meanwhile, the visitors will operate without Craig Cathcart (knee), Younes Kaboul (thigh), Mauro Zarate and Roberto Pereyra (muscular), while Ben Watson (groin strain) will face a late fitness test.
Recent form (League)
Hull City: LLWWL
Watford: WLWWL
Betting odds and tips
Hull City have conceded at least one goal in each of their last nine matches and in all but one of their home matches. The Yorkshire club has earned 83% of their points on home soil this term.
Meanwhile, Watford have conceded at least once in each of their last 10 matches on the road.
You can back the home win at Both Teams to Score at 3/1 with Bet365. Or For a safer bet stick to the straight Both Teams to Score forecast at 4/5 also with Bet365. Total Goals Over 2.5 also looks like a tempting option and can be backed at Evens.
