French Open preview and odds: Possible quarter-final match-ups
May 22, 2016 TBC - Roland Garros
Now the draw has been made for the French Open, we can now look at some possible quarter-final match-ups.
Will the big names make it?
In the men`s draw, reigning champion Stan Wawrinka has been drawn in the third quarter and is coming into the tournament in decent shape. Whether he can go all the way again depends very much on which version of Stan will turn up in the latter stages but he looks all set to make it at least to the quarter-final stage where Canadian Milos Raonic could be waiting for him.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has been drawn in the first quarter along with the likes of Tomas Berdych, Bernard Tomic, David Ferrer and Roberto Bautista Agut. Assuming Djokovic will make it to the quarters, Tomas Berdych will be his most likely opponent.
Nine-time former champions Rafa Nadal will be favourite to win the second quarter. However, if he is going to make it to the last four, the Spaniard may have to negotiate his way past tricky Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The final quarter features World No. 2 Andy Murray who is aiming to progress beyond the semi-final stage for the first ever time. Standing in his way in the last eight could be Japanese World No. 5 Kei Nishikori.
Projected mens quarter-finals
Djokovic vs Berdych
Nadal vs Tsonga
Wawrinka vs Raonic
Murray vs Nishikori
