Royal Ascot 2017
Category: Group 3, Class 1
Distance: 7f
Going: Good to firm
Runners: 20
Winner: £51,039.00
This race features a field of three-year-olds all looking to push on to the next level after cutting their teeth in the lower ranks. Some have already had a crack at the 1000 and 2000 Guineas where things may not have quite to plan.
One such horse is Dream Castle, who impressed on his debut at Newbury and followed it up with a respectable second place finish at the same venue before finding things a bit tougher in the Guineas at Newmarket. The conditions and track should suit him much better here and he should enough in the Guineas to earn plenty of early backers here.
Le Brivido opened his career with a pair of wins and was not far off when second in the French Guineas. But like Dream Castle, he has already shortened in the market so don`t expect much value.
Those looking for a bit of value could do worse than look at Winning Ways (16/1) who is less proven at this level but has course and distance form, and has shown quality as well as pace over the season.
Another that looks interesting at a decent price in Daban (7/1). She won on her fillies debut at Kempton and followed that up with a solid display at Newmarket. She came up short over the extra distance in the Guineas but was third to a winner that has since backed up his credentials.
Betting odds and tips
There are plenty of strong contenders here but Dream Castle just gets the nod in the Win Market although the price may shorten even further in the lead up to the race.
Winning Ways looks like the choice bet for those looking for an outsider or some each-way value.
