Aston Villa vs Everton - Premier League Preview and Odds
August 21, 2019 20:00pm - Villa Park Stadium (Birmingham)
Premier League
Premier League newcomers Aston Villa will go in search of their first points of the season when they host an Everton side who took four points from their first two games and remain unbeaten.
Villa has a tough opening day fixture away to Tottenham Hotspur and came away empty-handed following a 3-1 defeat despite some bright spells of play. They followed that up with another defeat, this time by a 2-1 scoreline at home to established top-flight side AFC Bournemouth in which midfielder Douglas Luiz scored his first goal for the club since joining from La Liga side Girona. The 21-year-old failed to find the net during his two seasons in Spain so will be pleased to have got off the mark in his second Premier League start.
On a positive note, they scored in both games and dominated possession against Bournemouth while also engineering more shots on goal. Had they been more clinical in last weekends game they could have earned at least a point. Boss Dean Smith will hope to nip their losing streak in the bus before it starts to become a habit.
Opponents Everton have had a solid start to their campaign drawing away to Crystal Palace and winning at home to Watford. However, they failed to create too many chances and that is reflected in the single goal they have managed so far.
Marco Silva will be looking to improve on last years disappointing campaign which saw the Toffees disappear into mid-table obscurity. Four points from their first two games is a good start but he will want to see and improvement in quality in the next couple of games. The Blues have a winnable run of fixtures ahead of them before they face Manchester City at home in September and will want to make a positive start to keep their European ambitions on track.

Betting odds and tips
Aston Villa have not earned any points but they have scored more goals than Everton and created significantly more chances. If they can tighten up their defence a little, they could claim their first points of the season on Friday night. Expect a tight game with a low goal count and the hosts to come out on top.
You can back Under 2.5 Goals at 11/10 and Villa to win at 9/4.
