Manchester City will be desperate to avoid losing any more ground to league leaders Liverpool when they welcome bottom-of-the-table Watford to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Sky Blues have already dropped five points after drawing at home to Tottenham Hotspur back in August and falling to an unexpected defeat away to Norwich City last time out. Titles rivals Liverpool have yet to drop a point and travel to Chelsea on Sunday. City could move to within two points of the Reds, putting added pressure on them ahead of that clash.

Pep Guardiola`s men have dropped just two points from their last 11 home matches, their last defeat coming against Crystal Palace back in December 2018. They last faced Watford in the FA Cup final when they strolled to a 6-0 victory. They have won all of their last 10 meetings against Saturdays opponents.

Watford`s decision-makers responded to the clubs poor start to the season by sacking Coach Javi Gracia and replacing him with former boss Quique Sanchez Flores. In his first game in charge, Flores oversaw a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal in which his side came from two goals down to grab their second point of the season.

The Hornets have a dismal record against Manchester City, their last win coming back in 1987. What`s more, they conceded 25 goals in their last six encounters against the reigning Premier League champions.
