Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur - FA Cup Semi-final preview and odds
April 22, 2016 17:15pm - Wembley Stadium
FA Cup
This weekend, the two sides battling it out for supremacy in the Premier League will go head-to-head in knockout competition as Chelsea meet Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Both sides still in contention for double
The first of this weekend`s FA Cup semi-finals could also have an impact on the Premier League title as both teams seek to gain a psychological edge heading into final games of the season.
Against that context, this should be an intriguing encounter with Tottenham also returning to the stadium where they struggled to feel at home in European competition. However, the North Londoners arrive here unbeaten in 10 and having won their last eight games in a row in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have seen their huge lead at the top of the Premier League table reduced to just four points by this weekend`s opponents. And they come into this game on the back of an unimpressive performance against Manchester United last week. The Blues failed to get a foothold in that game and were comfortably beaten 2-0 by the fifth-ranked team.
Team news
Chelsea will have to make do without Gary Cahill who is suffering from illness, while Marco Alonso and Thibaut Courtouis both remain doubtful.
Meanwhile, Spurs will continue to operate without the services of Rose (knee), Vorm (knee), Carter-Vickers (knee), Lamela (hip) and Winks (ankle).

Betting odds and tips
In recent times, these two teams have been very evenly matched having won two apiece and drawn two in their last six encounters. Prior to that, Chelsea had the upper hand in meetings between the two. In FA Cup competition, Chelsea have five wins to Tottenham`s four including a 5-1 rout when they met at the same stage in 2012.
Based on recent results, Spurs look to be favourites. They have the momentum of league form on their side, while Chelsea have shown signs of succumbing to the pressure of being chased down for the title. As a result, Spurs should just have the edge in this game. What`s more, Mauricio Pochettino`s men are in clinical enough form to get the job done within 90 minutes.
