Europa League preview and odds: Tottenham Hotspur vs Fiorentina
February 25, 2016 20:05pm - White Hart Lane
Europa League - Round of 32, Second leg
With an away goal in the bag and the scores still level, Tottenham take a slight advantage going into the second leg of this UEFA Europa League Round of 32 tie against Italian side Fiorentina.
Tottenham keen to improve poor record in Italy
Tottenham`s good form in Europe continued as they avoided defeat in the away leg of their Europa League tie against Fiorentina. With an away goal also in the bag, the English side will be favourites to progress to the last 16 of the tournament.
Spurs have only been beaten once in this year`s edition of the tournament (at Anderlecht), having now played seven games. However, they come into this game on the back of a 0-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. Mauricio Pochettino fielded as strong side in the domestic cup game but they were unable to break down a tough Palace defence.
Fiorentina still hopeful thanks to strong away record in Europe
When Fiorentina met Tottenham at the same stage of this competition last term, they bagged a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane before wrapping up the tie with a 2-0 win on home soil. This season, the tables have been turned with Spurs holding Paolo Sousa`s men to a 1-1 draw in Italy in the first leg.
The game marked the first occasion that the Viola have ever conceded a goal at home to an English side.
The Italian side will travel to England buoyed by the fact that they have lost just one of their last 19 away matches in the Europa League (a 3-0 defeat at Sevilla back in May). They also come into this game on the back of a 3-2 away win at Atalanta in Serie A
Team news
Tottenham are still without Moussa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen and Clinton NJie, while Hugo Lloris and Erik Lamela are both doubtful.
