Two teams with very different priorities go head to head on Tuesday night as eighth-ranked Watford host relegation-threatened Southampton.

The Hornets are locked in a battle to be crowned the Premier League`s best-of-the-rest and can move into pole position ahead of Everton with a win on Tuesday. They have lost just two of their last eight home matches (to Arsenal and Chelsea) having won four and drawn the other two.

During that spell, they also booked a place in the FA Cup final following their incredible semi-final comeback against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Javi Gracias men already have eight more points than they earned in the whole of last season and have played some excellent football on their way to a cup final and a top-half finish.

Meanwhile, Southampton have given themselves a great chance of renewing their Premier League residency thanks to an upturn in form under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl. When the German boss arrived on December 5, the Saints had picked up just nine points from 14 matches under Mark Hughes and were just a point off the bottom of the table.

Since then, they have added 27 points from 20 matches and are 22 points clear of the bottom-ranked Huddersfield Town. However, they are still not mathematically safe and will be keen to solve that equation as soon as possible.

Following some strong performances away from home at the run of the year, their form on the road has slipped a little with one win and three defeats in their last four, the sole victory coming against relegations rivals Southampton.
