The Coronation Stakes is a Group 1 race open to three-year-old fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) and was first established in 1840 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Victoria. The race was promoted to Group 1 status in 1988.
Winter looks like being the horse to beat here following her recent English and Irish 1,000 Guineas wins. Her latter performance at the Curragh was particularly impressive and bodes well for this event. The yard are in great form and with Ryan Moore in the saddle once again, confidence is riding high.
French 1,000 Guineas winner Precieuse could feature here but might just prefer the ground to be a bit softer.
Dabyah ran well in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at the back end of last season and had plenty in hand when triumphing in a Group 3 contest at Newbury last time out. Based on that form and the suggestion that she has more to come, she looks like the biggest threat to odds-on favourite Winter.
