The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes is a Handicap race open to three-year-olds and over. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs (2,414 metres). The race was established as the Bessborough Stakes back in 1914 and was originally a five furlong race for two-year-olds.

Wadigor is unbeaten and should love the fast ground here after making the switch from the all-weather tracks. He has impressed an every start and will be well backed here.

Meanwhile, stablemate Appeared won over this course and distance last time out and has progressed well since winning a strong handicap race at York last May. Will be carrying plenty extra due to that showing but could benefit from wearing blinkers for the first time.

Ryan Moore will take the reins on hot prospect Mainstream. The eager runner has been a consistent performer but often has trouble settling into the race. With a top pilot in the saddle, he might justify his credentials here.

Another interesting contender is Star Storm. This useful runner won a Group 3 over this course and distance back in 2015 and came second in a Listed race, also over course and distance last time out. That run has prompted many to suggest that this race could be his time to shine.
