Roy Hodgson will look to make his mark on this year`s title race when he leads Crystal Palace out against his former club Liverpool on Saturday.

The Eagles are winless in their last five matches and have dropped to 12th place in the table. But with just two points separating them and Sheffield United in fifth, a win could see them jump up the table this weekend.

Palace`s last two home matches have both ended in 2-0 defeats to top-four teams (Manchester City and Leicester City). Prior to that, they went six games unbeaten on home soil. Their last home win against Liverpool came back in 2014.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will hope to maintain their advantage at the top of the table with a win on Saturday. The Reds are eight points clear of their closest challengers Leicester City and have yet to lose a game this season. Last time out, they secured a crucial 3-1 win over reigning champions Manchester City.

It could be argued that the Anfield side have not been at their best this season and still have more to come. If that is the case, they could leave their rivals in their wake. However, a defeat here could easily knock them off their stride and put them under pressure if their rivals take advantage. Having said that, there is little to suggest that Liverpool will slip up here. They are unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League away matches and have won nine of their last 10.

Betting odds and tips

It is hard to imagine anything other than a Liverpool win. The Reds are strong on the road and have a decent record against the Eagles, winning their last five meetings and their last five at Selhurst Park.
