The Diamond Jubilee Stakes is a Group 1 race open to horses aged four years and older. It is run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres). The event was first established in 1868 and has had several names over the years. It adopted its current name in 2002 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. At the same time, it was promoted to Group 1 status. The Diamond Jubilee Stakes forms part of the Global Sprint Challenge international race series.
Limato is arguably the form horse in a field with no standout runner. Henry Candy trained last year`s winner so he knows how to best get round here but his entry has gone off the boil a little in recent weeks, although the soft ground may have had an impact. Of course, a return to form is not out of the question and plenty of punters will be banking on that as he hits the firmer turf here.
Meanwhile, Tasleet looks an interesting pick at a decent price. This is a horse who seems like he has more to give and this could be the race that brings that out. He was looked very comfortable when easing to a Group 2 win in York on his less favoured softer ground last time out. He has a decent turn of pace and the firmer ground should see him go even better. Looks like a good pick at a price of 8/1 or better.
Betting odds and tips
Limato will head off as favourite but it is Tasleet who gets the nod as the value pick.
