Liverpool will look to maintain their advantage at the top of the Premier League by seeing off the challenge of former boss Rafa Benitezs Newcastle side on Boxing Day.

The Reds will head into the weekend on top of the table regardless of the result on Wednesday, but with back-to-back games against Arsenal and Manchester City coming up, they will want to take maximum points from this clash.

Klopp`s men remain the only side unbeaten in the league and come into this game on the back of seven straight wins. On home soil, they are unbeaten in 29 Premier League matches. Their last home match was a 3-1 win over Manchester United which preceded Jose Mourinhos dismissal.

Rafa Benitez is sure to receive a warm welcome at his old stomping ground, but there will be no favours on the pitch as Liverpool seek to extend their 24-year unbeaten Premier League home record against the Magpies.

Newcastle continue their quest for survival while fans wait eagerly for takeover news. Their recent record away from home in the league has been good with two wins and two draws from their last four. However, their record at Anfield is poor with their last win coming back in 1994.

The northeast side have a five-point cushion over the drop zone and have a much better goal difference than all of the bottom five, so they will fancy their chances of staying up.
