Premier League preview and odds: Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace
April 30 , 2016 15:00pm - St. James` Park
Premier League
Newcastle will continue in their quest for Premier League survival when they welcome FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace to St. James` Park on Saturday afternoon.
Is Rafa revival too late for Toon?
A run of three games without defeat has given Newcastle fans reason to believe that they can still survive the Premier League relegation battle.
The Magpies have looked like a different team in the last few games and have taken a point off both Manchester City and Liverpool and comfortably beaten Swansea City. Despite their improvement, they are still a point adrift of Sunderland having played one more game. They may need to win all of their remaining games if they are to retain their place in the top flight.
On home soil, the northeast club have lost just one of their last seven games, having won three and drawn the other three. They come into this game on the back of a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in which they showed great fighting spirit to come back from two goals down.
Palace on Wembley high
Crystal Palace are on their way to Wembley for a second time thanks to a 2-1 win over Watford in last weekends FA Cup semi-final. Their success in the cup has been in stark contrast to their league form which has been abysmal in 2016.
The Eagles have won just one of their last 18 Premier League matched since rising to fifth in the table back in December. During that spell, their total record reads W1 D7 L10. Away from home, they are winless in eight, having lost four and drawn the other four.
Alan Pardew`s men are still not mathematically safe but will probably need just one more point to guarantee their place in next seasons Premier League line up.
Team news
The home side have a long list in injured players that includes Steven Taylor, Daryl Janmaat, Rob Elliott, Massadio Haidara and Tim Krul, while Fabricio Coloccini remains a slight doubt.
Meanwhile, Brede Hangeland, Marouane Chamakh and Kwesi Appiah will be missing for the visitors.
