Euro 2016 preview and odds: Germany vs Slovakia
Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille Métropole - 18:00pm 26 June 2016
Round of 16
Germany`s quest for World Cup and European Championship double will continue on Sunday when they face the challenge of Slovakia at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille.
World champions yet to concede
Reigning world champions Germany have yet to concede a goal at this year`s European championships. However, they now face a team that got the better of them in a friendly encounter just a month ago. It will be a much stronger German side that takes to the field on Sunday but they will be under no illusion as to the threat posed by the Slovakians.
Slovakia started the tournament with a defeat to Wales but have since shown steady improvement with a win over a Russia and a draw with England. As a result, they made it to the knockout phase as one of the four best third-placed teams.
The teams have faced each other 10 times in all competitions including friendly matches and have yet to draw a single game. The only previous competitive matches between the two sides came in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign when Germany came out on top home and away.
Form (all competitions):
Germany: WDWWL
Slovakia: DWLDW
Betting predictions
Germany have not conceded a goal in any their last four fixtures and made it to the knockout stage without losing a game. Slovakia started with a defeat but have not performed badly but they will need to find another gear if they are to progress to the quarter-finals.
