Newcastle face a stern challenge on Sunday when Maurizio Sarri`s explosive Chelsea side pay a visit to Tyneside.
Many were surprised Rafa Benitez stayed on as Newcastle manager after a gloomy summer of prudent spending prompted the Spaniard to air his frustrations in public.
They began the season with a strong performance despite losing at home to Tottenham Hotspur, but followed it up with a dull display in a 0-0 draw at newly promoted Cardiff City.
The Magpies are without the suspended Isaac Hayden who saw red card in Cardiff while Kenedy cannot feature against his parent club. DeAndre Yedlin is an option after recovering from a knee problem but Florian Lejeune is out.
Chelsea will look to maintain their 100% record and keep pace with league leaders Liverpool. The Blues have already scored six goals in two games, but surrendered a two-goal against Arsenal last time out before fighting back to claim the win. Fans may have to get used to that kind of roller-coaster game under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
Eden Hazard will be in contention for a place in the XI after starting the first two games on the bench. Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas remains a doubt.
