Liverpool vs Chelsea - League Cup Preview and Odds
September 26, 2018 19:45pm - Anfield
League Cup
Premier League pace-setters Liverpool will play the first of two games in a week against title rivals Chelsea when the two meet in the League Cup on Tuesday night. It will be the 57th meeting between the two since the start of 2000 - no two Premier League sides have met so often in that time.
The Reds cruised past Southampton on Saturday to make it seven wins from seven in all competitions and will look to make that eight when they begin their first domestic cup campaign this week.
Those seven wins included victories over Tottenham and PSG, so Klopps men have already proved themselves against top class opposition. However, the German technician is expected to send out a weakened team to face the Londoners.
With eight trophies, the Reds have won the competition more times than any other team although Chelsea are next in line with five. The sides will meet again in the Premier League on Saturday so this game could affect confidence heading into that clash.
The Anfield club have won only two of their last 14 matches against Chelsea and both of those wins came away from home.
Chelsea fell behind Liverpool at the top of the league table following their 0-0 draw at West Ham last weekend. That was the first time they have failed to score this season and ended their perfect start. Maurizio Sarri is also expected to make changes ahead of this game.

Betting odds and tips
Liverpool are strong at home and they are very dangerous going forwards. Even with changes, they should be expected to score here. Chelsea`s scoring form this season and their good record at Anfield should also see them get on the score sheet. As a result, Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score should be considered here.
You can back Both Teams to Score at 8/13 and Over 2.5 Goals at 13/20. Liverpool to win 2-1 also looks tempting at 15/2.
