Premier League preview and odds: Watford vs Stoke City
November 27, 2016 12:00pm - Vicarage Road
Referee: TBC
Premier League
Eighth-ranked Watford will look to extend their unbeaten home record to five matches when they welcome 13th-ranked Stoke City to Vicarage road on Sunday lunchtime.
Watford in race to be best of the rest
With the top five in the Premier League breaking away from the remainder of the field, Watford are one of many teams in contention to be the best of the rest.
The Hornets are just a point behind sixth-ranked Manchester United and will look to maintain the pressure on their rivals with their fourth home win in five matches on Sunday.
Walter Mazzarri`s men have lost just one of their last six Premier League matches (a 6-1 defeat at Liverpool), and have scored at least one goal in all of their home games. So far, they look to have progressed well since consolidating their top-flight status under Spanish boss Quique Sanchez Flores last term.
Meanwhile, opponents Stoke City, will be hoping for a return to winning ways after falling 0-1 at home to Bournemouth last time out. Prior to that defeat, Mark Hughes` men had gone six game unbeaten, a run that lifted them out of the bottom three. They are currently residing in 13th place, just three points clear of the drop zone.
Away from home, the Potters are unbeaten in three but have only recorded one win this term - a 2-0 victory at Hull City. On their last road trip, they held West Ham United to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
Team news
The home side will be without Christian Kabasele (thigh strain), Isaac Success (hamstring), Kenedy (knee), Craig Cathcart (hernia) and Brice Dja Djedje (foot), while Younes Kaboul and Juan Zuniga are both doubtful.
Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without the injured group of Phil Bardsley (knee), Geoff Cameron (knee), Jack Butland (ankle), Stephen Ireland (leg) and Ibrahim Affelay (ACL), while Glenn Whelan will face a late fitness test after suffering from a calf injury.
