Euro 2016 preview and odds: England vs Iceland
Stade de Nice, Nice- 18:00pm 26 June 2016
Round of 16
England will be looking to claim their first ever Euro knockout win outside of their home country when they take on tournament debutants Iceland in the round of 16 on Monday.
Iceland aiming to head further into unchartered waters
Iceland have made it to the knockout stages of a European Championship at their very first attempt and will now be looking to prolong their stay.
The tournament minnows have never faced England in a competitive match but they come into this game full of confidence after remaining unbeaten in the group stages. After drawing with Portugal and Hungary, they won their final game against Austria to finish second in Group F on goal difference.
Meanwhile, England have gone about their business in a low key manner with boss Roy Hodgson doing his best to manage expectations ahead of this game. The Three Lions also remained unbeaten in Group B, having drawn against Russia and Slovakia and beaten Wales.
The England coach may juggle his line up once again as he attempts to find a winning formula in the crucial knockout phase. His side have had 65 shots on goal but have only scored three times in the tournament so far, while Iceland have scored four from just 21 chances.
Form (all competitions):
England: DWDWW
Iceland: WDDWL
Betting predictions
England`s wastefulness in front of goal could come back to haunt them. Don`t be surprised if this game goes to extra time.
