Manchester United fans will be hoping for something to cheer about this weekend after a disappointing midweek Champions League performance in which they were dominated at home by Italian side Juventus.

That match added further misery to what has been an underwhelming season for the club in every respect. Despite being one of the league`s biggest spenders over the past few years, they are currently sat in 10th in the league table, nine points adrift of the leaders. Translate that over the course of a season and they would finish 38 points behind the title winners.

The mood around the club was lifted briefly by the comeback win against Newcastle United and the draw away to Chelsea, but Tuesday`s game brought them crashing back down to earth. And in truth, the first half performance against Newcastle was one of their worst 45 minutes of football this season and the opening period against Chelsea was not much better.

With just four wins from nine in the league and a negative goal difference, there are some serious issues at Old Trafford. And the club are in danger of missing out on the all-important top four. Any thoughts of a title challenge now feel like fantasy - a scenario that was unimaginable just a few years ago.

Everton have shown signs of improvement after a tricky start under Marco Silva. However, there are still some defensive issues with just two clean sheets kept so far. One of those shut-outs came in the 2-0 triumph at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, their third win in a row and one that lifted them to eighth in the table.

Away from home, they have won one, drawn two and lost one, the defeat coming against in-form Arsenal. A tally of six goals from four games on the road bodes well for the Toffees. However, no team have lost more Premier League matches against Manchester United than Everton.
