Premier League
Southampton will look for a return to winning ways when they face an Everton side led by their former boss at St. Marys on Sunday afternoon.
Saints winless in four
Southampton have not won any of their last four Premier League matches and are just three points clear of the relegation zone with a tally of 14 points. However, their home form has been decent with just one defeat (0-2 vs. Chelsea) from the six matches they have played this season.
Claude Puel`s men come into this game on the back of a 0-0 home draw against title candidates Liverpool. They may have rode their luck in that game but not many teams have taken points off Jurgen Klopps men so far this term.
Five of the six home games that the South Coast team have played have produced less than 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, Everton have continued to stumble after a strong start to the season that saw them occupying the top four places. The Toffees have won just one of their last six matches and are winless in four on the road. They come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Swansea City that was preceded by a 5-0 thrashing away to Chelsea.
Ronald Koeman`s men have now slipped down to seventh place in the table, 12 points adrift of the league leaders Chelsea. A win on Sunday would at least keep their hopes of European qualification alive.
Team news
The home side will hand late fitness tests to Jose Fonte (foot) and Dusan Tadic (nose), while Alex McCarthy (hamstring), Matt Targett (hamstring) and Jeremy Pied (ACL) will all miss out.
Meanwhile, Arouna Kone is in line for a return for the visitors - however, they will have to make do without the services of Muhamed Besic (ACL) and Matthew Pennington (hamstring) who will both be out of action until next year.
Recent form (League):
Manchester United: DDDWL
West Ham United: LDLWW
Betting odds and tips
Southampton have failed to score in their last two home games and Everton have scored just twice in their last four away games. This one looks set to be of a cagey low-scoring encounter.
