Sporting Gijon will continue their quest to preserve their La Liga status, when they welcome an Eibar side who have already booked their place in next season`s top-flight to El Molinon on on Friday night.
Two defeats in six for Sporting
A run of six games featuring two wins, two draws and two defeats has given Sporting Gijon a fighting chance in this season`s La Liga relegation battle.
The team from Asturias has spent most of the season stranded in the bottom three but are now just one point away from the first position of safety. In their last home game, they notched up a significant 2-1 victory over Europa League semi-finalists Sevilla before falling 6-0 away to Barcelona the following week. They have conceded at least one goalin all of their last 12 home games.
Eibar safe despite poor form in 2016
After being granted a relegation reprieve last season, Eibar will be delighted to have secured yet another season kin Spain`s top flight.
The Basque Country side started the season well but have been on the decline in 2016. In fact, they have won just one of their last 11 matches and have lost their last eight away games in a row. They come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Deportivo La Coruna.
Team news
Ognjen Vranjes is suspended for thehome side, who will also be without Jony, Daniel N`Di, Alberto Garcia, Jorge Mere and Bernardo Espinosa.
Meanwhile, Luna and Jaime will both be missing for the visitors.
